Fly - Atherigona reversura - female

Fly - Atherigona reversura - Female
Allison Park, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, USA

This fly had a habit reminiscent of some Stilt-legged Flies where it waves it's front legs about apparently mimicking a wasp.

ID confirmed from specimen, now a photo-voucher. Thanks John.

very nice
Moved from House Flies and kin. A good data point for this relatively new invasive. I've already seen them here in Indiana. Did you find it sweeping?

This was swept from a White Pine
It's often infested with white pine aphids and seem to attract a large variety of wasps and flies.

Ok that makes sense!
Must be feeding on the sweet honeydew the aphids are producing. If you are able to collect more of these, I'd appreciate it.

I'll look for them
I did save this one.
