Captured at night on a friend's driveway. Laid a small egg-case after capture, then died.

Interesting...
I'm fairly certain that this is a female P. americana with unusually long tegmina (perhaps it looks that way due to the angle the pic was taken?) since it's the only known species of Parcoblatta in CA for now.

 
Tegmina
The wing buds are pretty long in real life. I think the only thing distorted about the specimen is that since it's pinned and dried, it's a slightly darker color than it was when I caught it.

I just realized I made a mistake and put this as California, it's actually from Texas!

 
OMG
I had a hunch that this looked oddly similar to one of the TX species of Parcoblatta that I've only seen in an old diagram, but the location was off so I thought it couldn't be that species, but since this one is collected from TX, I think it's pretty safe to assume that this is a female Parcoblatta desertae!
