I have several high resolution images of this printable at 11x14. early fall out looking for bugs, down in a wet creek flood plane wind wiping around, it took about 25 shots to get this image, but I love it. Just have no clue what it is, and Purdue entomology dpt, doesn't seem to have the time to answer my questions, too busy getting grants from Monsanto probably.

Question mark.
Unfortunately, I could not get a reverse shot of this, but the Question mark is very common around here, so I believe your guess is spot on. I thank you for the information
Jim

This is in either genus Nymphalis or Polygonia
Can you post some shots that show other angles, so we can see the other side? Then we might be able to figure out which species it is. Right now, my money is on Polygonia interrogationis (Question Mark Butterfly), but I might be wrong.
