Tetraopes
Nine different Tetraopes species occur in Texas. Some can be hard to tell apart, especially from a photograph. Each species usually feed on one specific Asclepias species and one Asclepias species only. Do you happen to know what plant it was on?
For example, Tetraopes annulatus feeds on Asclepias subverticillata. Tetraopes femoratus feeds on Asclepias speciosa. Tetraopes mandibularis feeds on Asclepias latifolia. Tetraopes quinquemaculatus feeds on Asclepias amplexicaulis and Asclepias hirtella. Tetraopes texanus feeds on Asclepias viridiflora. Unfortunately the plant that Tetraopes thermophilus feeds on is unknown.

Tetraopes
Jordan,
I put in the comments to the first photo it was;
It was feeding on Asclepias oenotheroides.
Missing white antenna rings of Tetraopes femoratus.
Missing pointed ends of antenna of Tetraopes texanus.
Why the pages were switched around I don't know.
I also emailed Mike the photos.
Thanks for any help.

I am far from an expert on th
Eric,
I am far from an expert on this group, but I have photographed what looks to be the same thing here in the Austin area a few times that have been ID'd here as Tetraopes texanus.

I see you commented about this species so perhaps not the same.
