Neat little bee - Hoplitis producta - male

Neat little bee - Hoplitis producta - Male
Riley Wilderness Park, Coto De Caza, Orange County, California, USA
March 29, 2007
Size: ~5mm
On a tiny flower in high wind. Got only one shot, and wished for more.

Moved
Moved from Hoplitis.
This image would benefit from some cropping.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not so sure.
It's starting to lose detail in the thorax at this size. I'd give it a try, but have a new computer with now-jumbled files and no editing software for the next month. Give it a shot, if you'd like.

Cropping
Cropping doesn't affect the image. Read this discussion and this article.

Cropping does affect the presentation of the image.
Less with very crisp, large images, which this is not. Play with it and see.

Hoplitis (Alcidamea) producta gracilis (Michener)
male

note the hooked apical flagellomere

the tiny flower may be Cryptantha

Thanks so much, John
Hope I get another chance at this one.
