BG694 Asilid - Lasiopogon - male

BG694 Asilid - Lasiopogon - Male
Gloster, Gloster Arboretum, Amite County, Mississippi, USA
March 31, 2007
Size: body length 8.8 mm.
Collected on sandy edge of small clear stream by Caroline Bauder and kindly loaned to us for photography. This is one of a mated pair. After a bit of time with Herschel Raney's key, we think this may be in the genus Lasiopogon. The female may be seen here.

Lasiopogon
Been out of country for a week. Yes, this is a Lasiopogon. And only schizopygus and opaculus have likely been taken in your state. I can tell these two from the giant Cannings key which is at home. Cannings can likely tell it on sight. I think he still browses here.

Thanks Herschel
