Spider - Argiope

Spider - Argiope
Cameron County, Texas, USA
November 1, 2014

Moved
Moved from ID Request. Since this one is right at the southern tip of TX I think we need to consider A. blanda. I'd have to see a ventral of that species or a dorsal shot of this spider to know which this is. The bumps on the dorsum do look pointy from this angle which is more indicative of A. blanda.

This looks identical to the one we linked to
That one is from south Texas and has a dorsal image. Is the id on the linked image correct?

I think so
I'd have to look through my resources again to be sure. Argentata has more rounded protuberances while blanda's are more pointy.

Silver Argiope
