Tough one.
It looks like either Neamathla or Swarthy skipper with the light veining. The visible spots would favor Neamathla. However neither of these skippers are considered as present in south Texas. The Dun skipper is listed for your area and has several of the characteristics shown. If Dun, it would be a female since some spots are present.
Hopefully an expert familiar with Leps in your area can provide an ID.

I agree with Dr. Ivy that this is a very difficult ID.
N. julia is the species of this genus found in your area.
Neither the Neamaltha or Swarthy Skipper are supposed to occur in south TX.

 
I agree that this is N. julia
which is stated as common in south TX. I initially was swayed by text description on the lack of HW pale veining with faint chevron below for N. julia. But based upon BG and other examples this specimen is within variation for N. julia and the example you highlighted is spot on.
