Can't see the prolegs,
but it looks like a looper to us, Plusiinae. Do you have a lateral image where the abdominal prolegs could be seen?

Thanks for your kindly help. I went back to check the caterpillar again while it was weaving the cocoon. I think you are right it looks like to have two pairs of abdominal prolegs.
