Camponotus americanus

Camponotus americanus
Henderson, Chester County, Tennessee, USA
October 26, 2014
I've been baiting for moths on an elm and a holly that is growing at the base of the elm. The Camponotus americanus seen on the tree trunk look fairly typical but every one seen on the holly have this oddly marked abdomen.
