moth - Trichoplusia ni
Maricopa County, Arizona, USA
November 16, 2014
Size: 2 cm
A special feature near the head was also shown. Could this be the feature for the female moth to be seen by the male moth from the far distance? Pictures for different stage of the cocoon were also included. The moth came out around the 17th day. This caterpillar was found on the parsley. It wove a cocoon before I tried to take a picture of it.

female moth
Now I believe this was a female moth since we only saw other moths (photo # 1023186 and #1021841) came to our patio when we kept this moth in our patio.
Since this moth was kept inside a plastic bag, it may be the sound (calling) instead of the powder that attracted those male moths.

A bit hard to tell from the d
A bit hard to tell from the dark photo but I suspect his may be a Cabbage Looper Moth - Hodges#8887 (Trichoplusia ni)

life cycle of this moth
Thanks for the help! You are right for "Trichoplusia ni".

I will add the images of the cocoon on different days. It takes about 17days for this moth to come out
