Unknown Mosquito - Tipula

Unknown Mosquito - Tipula
San Jose, Santa Clara County, California, USA
April 5, 2007
Size: ~ 4 cm

Moved
Moved from Tipulomorpha.

Yes, Crane Fly
Probably of the Tipula (Tipula) complex. Just a guess, though. This specimen is a male. Chen Young, our crane fly expert at BugGuide, said that these complexes are often difficult to narrow down to species without the help of a microscope. We'll see what he says about this one.
