Operophtera bruceata - female

Operophtera bruceata - Female
Kennebunk, York County, Maine, USA
November 22, 2014
Finally! Haven't seen one of these since 2010.

After seeing the males in droves at my lights for the past few weeks, I decided to try a nighttime hunt for the female. I checked many trees before coming upon a mated pair high up in a red maple. I coaxed the female onto my net, but then an overreaching twig knocked her loose as I pulled the net down. A long search of the leaf litter finally revealed her.
