Can someone identify the insects and the function of the web building behavior. Although I have visited this specific local for numerous times over the last three years I have not observed this previously.

Moved
Moved from Spiders. Marshal might be able to ID them further. Cool find.

Marshal thought these were Sphodros
and pointed to:

Sure looks right to me but I'll leave it to someone with the right "pay grade" to move the images if they feel this is warranted.

Moved from ID Request.

I hope these will help. I was in a bit of a rush . . .
both when I shot these images and posted them. I also believe these are arachnids. I returned today to try to improve on the images but the show was over and only the silken structure remained.

Maybe the young of the year
leaving home, setting out on their own. Something similar we photographed in Illinois here:

Cool
I'll be interested to see what others say! There is a communal spider introduced to Florida (and there are several in my yard) called the tropical tent web weaver, but these aren't them.
This is definitely worth another picture. Can you get a closer shot in focus? Even when I zoom way in, I couldn't swear they are spiders. I can't distinguish the number of legs.
Thanks!

they appear
to be spiders, not insects but the image is so small and fuzzy it's hard to tell. Try again after reading the instructions on the submit image page
