Yes, this is a subspecies of Harpaphe haydeniana; I'm not sure now what the name of the form occurring in Sta. Clara Co. is. The species extends southward along the Pacific Coast to Big Sur, Monterey Co; I believe the southernmost record of the species is from either Pfeiffer Big Sur or Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Parks, whichever is the more southerly. Thank you for help!

Big Sur is located about 100 miles to the South form there. I also found images of same species on Commons made in nearby mountains (Pescadero Creek County Park).

Question
Hello,

I'm in Oregon and I have found a millipede that looks just like this one except the yellow spots are red instead. Does anyone know what species it is or whether it is safe to keep around?
