Erynnis baptissiae ? 0619 - Erynnis zarucco
Pinellas County, Florida, USA
September 18, 2014
I had help from Bugguide Facebook group. It was id as a Wild Indigo Duskywing, Erynnis baptisiae. I see that there are no records for this species within Bugguide.net for Florida and a map I looked at doesn't show it as occurring near Pinellas County, Fl. If you believe it to be Erynnis baptisiae, I can add it to the Bugguide database. Thoughts anyone? Thank you.

Moved from ID Request.

Looks like Zarucco Duskywing male to me.
Location, uniform dark coloration and lack of spot at cell end patch and light fringe of hindwings indicate Zarucco. Wild Indigo is very similar but FW is lighter above toward the outer margins and darker toward basal area.
Only a few examples at BugGuide.net but "Butterflies of America" has several images of male Zarucco Duskywings.

past experience with Zarucco
Thank you Cliff Ivy. It looks like a good match.

Several times I've though I had a Zarucco Duskywing photographed based on the characteristics you mention. But each time, someone told me no. So, I finally decided Zarucco Duskywings don't occur in the locations I visit.
