Phyllocnistis vitegenella

Phyllocnistis vitegenella
Norwood Farm, Nantucket, Nantucket County, Massachusetts, USA
August 16, 2014
Size: 2.6 mm
Reared from Vitis labrusca. The mine was an unambiguous Phyllocnistis vitegenella, although the adult would seem to be P. vitifoliella based on Chambers' descriptions.

There is only one BIN group for both species. The tree based on DNA barcode does split into two branches. However, the two phenotype are not separated into branches. It seems that both are randomly distributed in the tree.

I'm assuming that Chambers' descriptions are not solid and have added this at MPG as vitegenella. Thanks!
