This tiny beetle was balanced on the pistil of this unidentified yellow flower that was growing in an oak/rosemary scrub.

Acanthoscelides, i suspect
can't tell which one [16 spp. in FL] but the metatibia looks quite distinctive -- you can try to figure it out using(1)

please keep in mind that putting estimates [rather than measured data] in the size field may really hurt your chances for a reliable ID

Thanks for the genus ID. I'll do a bit of research and see if I can figure out the species.

 
Measurement
The beetle left when I tried to measure its length, so I used a metric ruler to measure the width of the pistil of the flower it had been balanced on. The top of the pistil was about 1 mm wide .
