September 9, 2011
7,247' elevation. Pinyon-juniper forest habitat. This beetle species was observed in large numbers along the Mormon Fire perimeter near the active fire. The beetles were massing on any prey they could find near the fire edge. I was bitten on the neck by the beetles.
