Louse - Ectopsocus vachoni

Louse - Ectopsocus vachoni
Elk Grove, Sacramento County, California, USA
December 11, 2014
Size: ~1mm
This little one showed up in one of my feeder cockroach bins soon after I added a layer of natural substrate (japanese maple leaves, bark, and dirt) to the enclosure, so I'm assuming it hitched a ride in the substrate. Is this a nymph? If it is a nymph and can only be ID'd as an adult, I will keep it in a cup until it reaches adulthood then photograph it again.

toldya. thanks Diane

This one is ...
the micropterous form of Ectopsocus vachoni

Micopterous Form
Is the micopterous form rare? I have since found 4 more and they all are micopterous. Also, what do they feed on? I'm going to attempt to start an indoor culture of them just for fun.

Thank you so much!

hope Diane or Dr Mockford narrow it down
