Size: ~2 mm
Several were found on milkweed, probably feeding on the numerous spider mites. Collected a pupa soon after and reared it to adult. Here are the pupa and adult: . Circumstances suggest the larva is the same species.

The closest thing I was able to find under Coccinellidae was this image, which still looks pretty different, and for which the comments also suggest Nitidulidae:
