Sheffield, Berkshire County, Massachusetts, USA
October 12, 2014
Found in Race Brook along the trail going up to the top of Mt Everett. Found under a rock. it's head retracted into its body and out as it tried to grasp with it's mandibles. It had little nubs for what appeared to be footings and it's tail had a snake tongue split in it with two black dots above it. I'm sure it's a larva but I don't know where to begin to id it.

Pediciidae
A fly larva of the familly Pediciidae. Based on the shape of the prolegs, it is most likely the genus Pedicia. It is the first picture of a larva of this genus on the guide, so a good addition.

nematoceran larva of sorts, i suspect
