I read that some NC groups have reduced wing spots.

Thanks for your comments . All the other Common Baskettails That I've been photographing here at Lake Gaston have very little or no wing spots. That's why I thought the photos I submitted might be Mantled with a reduced spot.

Common Baskettail
This is a female, and I don't see anything that rules out Common Baskettail, Epitheca cynosura. The abdomen length and thickness and the very short appendages on segment 10 suggest Common Baskettail to me. And the black area on the hindwings is about average for that species. This is probably a case where you'd have to examine the dragonfly with a hand lens or microscope to be absolutely sure, but since Common Baskettail is more abundant than Mantled, and there is nothing to rule out Common, I'd err on the side of greater probability.
