speckled dark longhorn - Anelaphus inermis
Islamorada, Monroe County, Florida, USA
March 27, 2007
Size: about 15 mm
different individual than previous photo but presumably same species; there were several of these at different locations in town

image lightened to show detail and contrast between elytra and pronotum

Okay thanks...
Moved from Longhorned Beetles to new species page.

looks like Enaphalodes atomarius
There is a great website for Florida longhorns - from that, I'd say Enaphalodes atomarius - this is a bit on the small side. I just realized, this isn't from Canada - vacation photo?

Thanks for the link
to the Florida longhorns, Phillip. I scanned through them all and especially like the looks of Anelaphus inermis here, with the pale spots on its pronotum, and the contrast between dark pronotum and paler elytra (I lightened the above photo to show this better). The size (11-18 mm) is a good fit too.

that is a better match - good. The antennomeres are much clearer in the lightened photo.
