? Loxostege indentalis - Loxostege indentalis
Aspen Grove, Utah County, Utah, USA
June 14, 1979
Size: 32 mm wing span
This looks a lot like #5004, Loxostege sticticalis but I think it looks a little more like #4996, Loxostege identalis. The later has a wider white towards the outside of the fore wing and the white markings seem more pronounced.
What are your thoughts (whomever "your" are)? L. indentalis is found in CA and NV. Utah would be pretty close.

I agree with Marcia, it's a very good match and eels to match the original description (see Info page references). Nice find!

"identical"
this pinned image is nearly identical to the one shown at MPG here:
http://mothphotographersgroup.msstate.edu/species.php?hodges=4996

The dashed fringe, as well as the "S" curvature (indented) to the p.m line at the inner margin seem to me to assign this specimen to Loxostege indentalis ...
