My first guess would be something within Chalcophora.

Chalcophora is just about 30 times as long as this bug, for one

Thanks for the ID! However...
Is it a species not represented in bugguide yet? It really was extremely silver. It wasn't just the lighting of the photograph that makes it look silver. Browsing through the other photographs of Taphrocerus... they are all very dark in coloration. None silver like this one.
