Detail of antennae and eyes. (The yellowish dots are pollen grains from deciduous and coniferous trees--ubiquitous at this time of year.) Aha! Herschel Raney's key to Syrphidae of the southeast says for the genus:
Eyes pilose; third antennal segment tapering from base
