tiny bumpy millipede - Desmonus pudicus

tiny bumpy millipede - Desmonus pudicus
Zilker Preserve, Travis County, Texas, USA
January 3, 2015
Size: about 1 cm
Found under a rock. I haven't seen anything that matches the odd shape of the first couple of segments, or the enlarged bumps on the rear segments. I'm assuming it fits in this order because of the relatively few segments and paranota.

You're correct Valerie, this
You're correct Valerie, this is a Desmonus. D. pudicus is the species that occurs in Texas, nice find! I find these sometimes in my leaf litter samples, but haven't found a living one yet.

after further research
It seems this is in the family Sphaeriodesmidae, and it might be a Desmonus species. There sure isn't much info about this family easily accessible online.
