How big was it?
Any chance it is a Pirata/Piratula?

Interesting, looking at the abdomen my first thought was Pachygnatha tristriata haha ... the eye cluster makes me think Pardosa but I'm not certain. The condition it's in might be throwing me off.

Do you still have this one ...
and if the palps are mature can you get a clear shot of the underside of one? If not it should be frassed.

Thank you Laura
I will post photos of the palps of both soon, I'm currently taking them. Sorry for their poor condition, unfortunately I only have one specimen of each from my pit traps. I appreciate your help!

Oops,
sorry I didn't get to respond to this in time, I was only referring to the other spider. A shot of the palp typically only helps if it's a mature male ... this one is a girl. :)

whoops!
that was my mistake, I just photographed both specimens palps. Whats the easiest way to tell male/female spiders?

You can't tell with juveniles ...
but an adult female will have slender palps, an adult male will have an enlarged sclerotized palp (thickened and hardened), a penultimate male (one molt from maturity) can have an enlarged palp but the details won't be visible. An adult female will also have an epigynum
:

Oftentimes males are lankier and smaller than their female counterparts ... longer legs, smaller abdomen.

thank you!
good to know
