Moved from Horse and Deer Flies. Silvius, pretty sure abdominalis, thanks for adding it. Why are the two photos listed with different dates? (dorsal is June 1, 1996; lateral is December 31, 1969)

Any possibility that this is pollinosus instead? The subapical infuscation on vein R4 is very faint, but there are clear and closer similarities to the wing of pollinosus per The Horse and Deer Flies of Texas by Goodwin and Drees.

Hi the image was captured around the 10th of january. But as this is a museum specimen I figure that does not matter that much. The insect was captured (according to the label) between June and August of 1996. Does this work?
