Creepy Crawly - Scutigera coleoptrata

Creepy Crawly - Scutigera coleoptrata
Toronto, Around the Jane and Finch Area, Ontario, Canada
April 14, 2007
Size: About 1.5 inches
This guy was just hanging out on the ceiling. I'm assuming it's some sort of centipede? Never seen one before.

this guy
if i had one of these in my house i wouldn't care really at the end of the day it wouldn't bother humans or me.

House Centipede
Scutigera coleoptrata. Not an uncommon sight in houses; I find them in my home too (I live in Richmond Hill; Bayview and Sixteenth area). They aren't actually that bad - these critters take care of unwanted spiders and flies in the house. The only thing is they tend to scare many people as they dash rapidly across the floor/wall.

I can in all honestly say this is the ONE insect that freaks me out. I do a little feak-out dance if I see one. I really don't get why they scare me so much except to say that while living in Japan they were BIGGER and poisoness and just as damn fast!
