NEW FAMILY Ceratophyllidae

NEW FAMILY Ceratophyllidae
Story County, Iowa, USA
Size: 2 mm
a blurry shot, but it shows the tiny antennae... normally they are tucked in near the eyes and go unnoticed... also, notice the mouthparts in my skin... didn't feel it.

Moved
Moved from Fleas.

They can 'bite and go' just like that...
I did the same when I was down in Belize last year - a flea on my hand. Well, not quite a living one though ... they were jumping onto my legs and it would have been rather difficult (and unpleasant) to stoop and shoot without being mauled by a dozen more (and getting them into my hair). Good job on this one!
