From Inf for Tetrix arenosa: Pronotum has only a feeble median ridge, is almost flat
From another post by D. Ferguson: fastigium, which is much wider than one eye (as viewed from above) and it sticks out in front of the eyes (albeit not by much).

Up close I think this one looks like mud caked with bits of sand or toad skin
Caught by J. van der Linden near a wash in a (currently) weedy open wooded ravine
