Ugly fly to ID if possible

Ugly fly to ID if possible
Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
April 14, 2007
This fly looked rather different to any that I have seen and I managed to get a couple of shots of it. Pretty ugly looking thing unless you like flies. Any info. about it would be a great help, thanks.
