I see there are several
color species; what does this mean? They are all slightly different?

Undescribed?
There are at least three forms on BugGuide that appear not to be any of the three species described from North America. The all-black flies might belong to a described South American species. The partly yellow ones are likely new. I will try to find out who (if anybody) is currently interested in the genus.
