Blister Beetle, genus Cysteodemus - Cysteodemus wislizeni

Blister Beetle, genus Cysteodemus - Cysteodemus wislizeni
Big Bend Ranch State Park, Presidio County, Texas, USA
March 31, 2007
Size: 1.5 inches
Is this C. wislizeni or another species? It was scampering in a wash in the Chihuahuan Desert of the Big Bend Region. I have seen others in the Mojave Desert of California with powdery white instead of the metalic purple.

Awesome.
Just wanted to compliment Matthew on his images, and welcome him to Bugguide if no one else has already done so. Thank you for sharing your work. You are making many fine contributions here.

Thank you very much
I appreciate your welcome and want to thank everyone responsible for making Bugguide possible. I have been seeing unusual insects for years but this site has become a wonderful aid to my studies. My first digital camera is what is making these pictures possible.

Click on your name, Matthew
at the bottom of the comment above and you will be taken to your contributor page, which you can edit to tell us more about you!

Should be wislizeni
Found from Texas to AZ, the other one is restricted to California (maybe western AZ).
