Northern Flower Moth larva - Schinia septentrionalis
along Hwy 88 near Praag, Buffalo County, Wisconsin, USA

Larva found inside flower with developing seeds. It crawled out and down the stalk when I pulled the flower apart. Plant was Symphyotrichum oblongifolium - Aromatic Aster - on a dry prairie remnant.

Did you try to rear this?

 
No..
It was long ago, and I wasn't brave enough to try. I haven't found a larva since then, but I haven't looked very hard. If I can find one, I'll try next year.
