Size: 5.4 mm
I spent some time trying to figure out what is a Naupactus and what is a Phacepholis. I hope I am getting close.

Phacepholis planitiatus (Buchanan) - Phacepholis planitiatus Phacepholis planitiatus (Buchanan) - Phacepholis planitiatus

Phacepholis circumscription...
...doesn't seem to have changed since(1)

Moved from Beetles.

planitiatus
Identified in 1987 by Charlie O'Obrien as this species.

i wasn't questioning the ID
thanks again for all the wonderful additions

makes me wonder...
if some of BG's Midwestern 'Naupactus' are this guy? I don't know the generic key characters off-hand

i scrolled thru the Naupactus pages
none seems to be misplaced; most everything from the KS-TX region has reliable IDs

me too
