Pogonomyrmex
Harvester ant, Pogonomyrmex. Not sure the species - would be neat/fitting if it were _P. bigbendensis_ but the postpetiole doesn't look right to me. Please do wait for an expert - they may be better able to give you a species here.

Thank you! This image in particular is of interest to me because of the ant's interaction with the plant (the only location I have been able to confirm for the E. golondrina is at Boquillas Canyon). I appreciate you identifying it to genus.

 
[i]Pogonomyrmex[i] is a genus
[i]Pogonomyrmex[i] is a genus of seed-harvester ants, with no particular affinity for particular species of plant seeds. This may be P*texanus, but that's a species I have no experience with, so hard to say.
