Size: At least 2 inches
This bug was sitting on a leaf along the Sacramento River. It was pretty big. Somewhere between 2 & 3 inches.

Dobson
My friend and I were actually chasing swallowtails when I came across this. I was in awe at it's size, and glad it stayed posed for my shots. I also got a shot of two exo-skeletons that were hanging on a nearby branch. I can only imaging they were the same species.

My guess is the native Dobson Fly thats found there... order Megaloptera, that's the only thing I can think of that's that big. Amazing find btw, I'm really jealous, I've been wanting to go out and look for that species
