Unknown Flower Fly (Syrphiidae) - Eristalis transversa

Unknown Flower Fly (Syrphiidae) - Eristalis transversa
Monroe County, Michigan, USA
September 8, 2014
Size: Perhaps 1/4 - 3/8 inch
I haven't been able to locate a Syrphiid with big red eyes and a tapering yellow and black abdomen in any references. ID help is greatly appreciated.

Moved from Syrphid Flies.

I can just barely see the sinuous vein, and the bright yellow scutellum is a dead giveaway!
