BTW, never call a springtail an insect... ;-)
Collembola are a dedicated class of hexapods on its own, with the same rank as Insecta. Phylogenetically they both are descendants from different ancestral crustaceans. So they do not have a direct common ancestor. Collembola are assumed to be more ancient then Insecta.
Some researchers believe that Collembola are the very first kind of terrestrial Crustacea:
