Unidentified Robber Fly II - Promachus bastardii

Unidentified Robber Fly II - Promachus bastardii
Baraga, Baraga County, Michigan, USA
August 7, 2014
I photographed this robber fly when it landed on my leg at about 11:00 a.m. It moved around a lot and always landed in a vertical position on vegetation. The habitat was an opening where
Jack Pine had been cut next to a sandy road. Goldenrod, Queen Anne's Lace and saplings were growing in the clearing. The location is in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan near Lake
Superior. I would appreciate it if someone could identify it for me. Thank you.
