Robber Fly III - Laphria janus

This Robber Fly was on a cut piece of Jack Pine. A large area of Jack Pines were cut. The soil was sandy, but there was a small lake nearby.
I took the photo about 4:00 p.m. The location is in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan near Lake Superior. I would appreciate it if someone
could identify it for me. Thank you.
