Size: wingspan ~14mm
BOLD RWWC1347-14 - 100% matches for both Caloptilia alnicolella and C. sanguinella 0632 indicating they are the same species. They are found in the same basic region. The older priority is C. alnicolella. BOLD put this specimen as C. ainicolella and the specimen is archived at the biodiversity institute.

host plant?
Thanks for the information. Do you happen to know what the host plant might have been?

In addition to C. sanguinella Beutenmüller described four more species in the late 1800s which were all subsequently lumped by Ely under alnivorella but later split by McDunnough into those two species based on host plant. It appears that split was incorrect. Info here.

BTW - aincolella should be alnicolella. I see the same error on you flicker page.

That miscue on spelling slipped right by.

No on host plant. It was in a trap. We have probably several hundred species of plants of both native and domestic within a hundred meters of here.
