Erythrodiplax umbrata ? - Erythrodiplax umbrata
Naples , Collier County, Florida, USA

This is possibly a band-winged dragonlet (Erytrodiplax umbrata), but I would like confirmation.

Yes.
A slender abdomen plus dark bands that go straight across the wing between the nodus and the stigma are good for male Band-winged Dragonlet. According to Dennis Paulson, a small percentage of females can look like males.

Thanks so much
for the confirmation!

the dragonfly
I got one of these between Christmas and New Years just recently. On vacation in Naples, got it right off Collier Blvd. Think it is a female which was described in Dunkle as possibly an immature or a rarer form, which has brown markings on abdomen instead of all black.

Do you live near there. I was looking for someone near there to collect with, who would possibly know of spots. Mainly butterflies. If interested , respond, I could send cell phone #.
