Lachesilla pallida (Chapman) - Lachesilla pallida - female

Lachesilla pallida (Chapman) - Lachesilla pallida - Female
Cook Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, USA
Size: 2.1 mm
collected in 1965 (date not specified)
This specimen if from the Texas Memorial Museum Invertebrate Collection # 64305. Collected by C. J. & B.V. Durden at Powdermill Nature Preserve. I had to perform a dissection and make a permanent slide of the genitalia in order to identify to species. I keyed it out with Mockford (1). The genitalia strongly resemble Fig. 35 in Kathryn M. Sommerman's "Revision of the genus Lachesilla north of Mexico", Ann. Entomol. Soc. Am. 39(4):627-661, 1946.

From Mockford (1993) " macropterous males and brachypterous females; wings of females not extending beyond first abdominal tergum" This species is relatively uncommon. Found primarily I leaf litter but males sometimes taken in hanging dead leaves.
I have requested confirmation from Mockfford and Alfonso Aldrete-Garcia but I'm confident about this one.

Maybe someday we can get a live shot!

Moved from pedicularia group.

the only date info on the label
was "1965".

oh i see
i'll move it to the Remarks then -- the date field can only handle a certain format

a glitch..
only the year was listed on the label but the program gave today's date. I can't seem to edit the day and month out.
