Nitidulidae? - Proteinus basalis

Nitidulidae? - Proteinus basalis
Lantzville, Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada
February 15, 2015
Size: 1.8mm
My son has been keen to set up a pit trap all winter. Yesterday we finally did. It is in the middle of a leaf pile in the backyard and we baited it with some banana peel. Overnight we caught a bunch of collembola and this one beetle. It reminds me of a Dusky Sap Beetle but is way smaller and the shape is a little different. Of course I could be in the wrong family!
