Small Bee - Andrena erythronii - female

Small Bee - Andrena erythronii - Female
Norwalk, Fairfield County, Connecticut, USA
April 19, 2007
I saw this bee on the ground trying to warm up enough to fly away. It seemed to be checking small holes in the ground as well.

Moved
Moved from Andrena.

yes, a female Andrena
was there Erythronium (trout lily) blooming in the area?

This looks like it could be the trout lily bee Andrena erythronii, although its hard to be certain based on this single photo.

Please post additional images if you have them.

No
There were no trout-lily in the area, but I will look for this bee again.

no, you didn't see any?
or no, you know they are definitely not present?

valid record for checklist?
Hi John,

Should this record be included in the checklist as a Fairfield county voucher? Thanks!

Tracy

I didn't see any in the area,
I didn't see any in the area, which is my backyard. They could very well be present.

Female Andrena?
Looks to me like a female Andrena, in which case it might have been searching for the entrance to its own burrow. Nice image!
