Size: ~20 mm
Found this convincing bumble bee mimic in a field with lots of flowering purple thistle last summer in Wisconsin. It sat on the rock for a minute or two, tracking Tricolored Bumble Bees (Bombus ternarius) as they flew by, until it saw one it couldn't resist and it flew off in pursuit.
